Our Downtown Dubai Hotel
Rove Downtown
We stayed here on our very first weekend trip to Dubai and loved it so much that it became our go-to. On our first visit, we got a complimentary upgrade to a Burj view room. It’s hard to find a room with a Burj Khalifa view at this price pint.
The location is unbeatable — just a short walk to Dubai Mall, making it perfect for sightseeing and shopping in central Dubai. There’s ample free parking, which is a rarity this close to Downtown.
But the real reason we keep coming back is the pool. Large, sparkling, and refreshingly cool in summer, it has a good sunbed-to-guest ratio and, best of all, a view of the Burj Khalifa while you swim. Rooms are simple but stylish, with Rove’s signature playful touches. For the price, it’s hard to find a better combination of location, comfort, and a pool worth spending the day in.

You are close enough to Downtown for a quick taxi ride to the Burj Khalifa, but far enough to feel like you are in your own coastal bubble.

Where We Stayed in Jumeirah
Rove Dubai Marina
We stayed here when we’d had our fill of Dubai Mall and wanted something different. Rove Dubai Marina delivered the same comfort, service, and cheerful design we’d come to expect from the brand.
It’s on a quiet street beside a canal leading to Dubai Marina. Watching yachts glide past from the window does have its charms.
Jumeirah Beach is walkable, but this is Dubai, so driving is easier. Lot’s of free parking is available in the hotel basement.
The pool is big enough for proper swimming, with a poolside bar serving alcohol and soft drinks. Like other Rove hotels, it’s bright, fun, and welcoming without feeling like a budget backpacker spot. It’s a solid choice for couples, friends, or even families who want easy beach access without resort prices.

Of course, we had to stay in Old Dubai. We wanted something that said exotic and Arabia in one sentence, plus a short drive to the airport for an early flight. Ibis Styles Deira fit the bill perfectly.
The area feels more local with a slower pace and fewer must-see distractions. The rooftop pool is the highlight, with sweeping views over Dubai Creek and the city skyline. There aren’t many sunbeds, so arrive early if you’re planning to lounge all day. From here, you can walk to the Gold Souq or hop on an abra to Al Seef for a heritage-meets-modern waterfront stroll. Rooms are comfy and practical, and for the price, you can’t beat the location and pool view.
